Good afternoon Ward families!

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Thank you to our school staff and community for making our annual Fall Festival a success! We loved seeing all our families! For pictures from last week, please visit our Ward Elementary School Facebook page!

Please read below for reminders for the upcoming week. Have an amazing week!

Student Holidays
HCPS will be closed for students on Monday, November 2nd, and Tuesday, November 3rd. We look forward to seeing our students again on Wednesday, November 4th.

Gifted News
The gifted referral window is now open through Thursday November 12, at 11:59 PM. During this time, students may be referred to the gifted identification process by an educator, parent/guardian, community member, peer, or self. By submitting a referral, you are requesting your child be evaluated to determine eligibility for gifted services, which is a program for students in grades K-12 who show a high level of accomplishment beyond what is typical for their age and experience. To learn more about the gifted identification process, please click here: 26-27 Gifted Identification Information.

To begin a referral, login to PowerSchool and click on forms. Follow this guide for instructions on how to submit a referral. Additional information about gifted programs can be found on our website: Henrico Schools Gifted Services Website

Gifted referrals will not be accepted after Thursday, November 12. Contact your Gifted Identification Coordinator, Cynthia Jefferson, (cejefferson@henrico.k12.va.us) or Gifted Resource Teacher, Tricia Rose, (tarose@henrico.k12.va.us) with questions.

Safety News
We will have our interim safety audit on November 16th.  During the month of November, we will conduct the following drills: Fire drill and reverse evacuation drill. Teachers will teach students the expectations  for the reverse evacuation drill.  Our students are well-versed in the fire drill expectations and demonstrate them on a monthly basis!

Student of the Month Celebration
We will have our next SOTM celebration on Wednesday, November 4th. Families of selected students received letters/invitations from our school counselors last week.

Share Your Smile for Our Belonging Wall
We are building a Belonging Wall in our main hallway to showcase the wonderful faces that make our school community so special! We would love for every family to be represented.

Thank you to our families that have sent in their pictures! We are extending our deadline to allow more families to send in their pictures. Please send in a photo that captures your family—whether it’s a favorite holiday, a pet picture, or a simple candid snapshot. Seeing their loved ones on display helps our students feel connected, valued, and right at home every day.
  • How to Send: Please send a physical copy in your child's folder (labeled with their name on the back).
  • Deadline: Ongoing

(Note: Please send printed copies you don't mind us keeping!

Thank you for helping us make our hallways shine!
